A Community-Centric Church: Embracing Service and Fellowship

As I reflect on my journey with our humble church, I am reminded of its unwavering commitment to serving the community and fostering strong bonds among its members. From providing a private building for local organizations to filling shoe boxes with Christmas goodies, we are a congregation that genuinely cares about making a positive impact.

One of the aspects that draws me to this position is the opportunity to serve others. Whether it's through our neighborhood garden, which feeds the needy in our community, or our support for feral cats and their neutering, we recognize that our actions can have a ripple effect on those around us. Our church building is also used regularly by Alcoholics Anonymous, providing a safe space for individuals to seek help and support.

As a small but diverse group of worshippers, we may not be able to tackle every challenge alone, but together, we are stronger. After attending Bible Study sessions three times a week, I have grown to appreciate my fellow congregants even more each day. Over the past year, HHH and I have developed close friendships with everyone in the church, and it's exciting to worship alongside such wonderful people.

In our community, it's not uncommon for a few dedicated individuals to shoulder the majority of the workload. However, at our church, we are committed to sharing responsibilities and empowering one another to serve. This was evident during our recent annual Society Meeting (church meeting of the members), where several board positions needed filling, but unfortunately, no new volunteers stepped forward.

As I look back on my 68 years on this earth, I am struck by the realization that despite our differences, we are all united in our love for God and his only Son. Our church is not just a place to worship on Sundays; it's a community that comes together regularly, sharing laughter, tears, and life experiences.

For those who may be considering taking on a leadership role within our church, I would encourage you to join us on this journey of service and fellowship. April would be an excellent time to take the reins as Church Steward, allowing you to make a meaningful contribution to our community while deepening your own spiritual growth.
